do the twist

Drew has confided that he might have a crush on Ana. At any rate, he'd like to get to know her better. He's also fond of Jassily, but he's not touching that with a ten foot pole. She is very much in agreement with that. Part of Jassily's necromancer code of ethics is that she bridges them to the real world (she translates the magic) and does not compel them to do or not do anything. If they're wreaking havoc and being bad, she can can them, but that is up to her discretion. When Zultanna and Malandra agree to let Drew and Jassily keep their Gifts, it is very strongly ordered that they keep to their ethics--which means Drew won't be held to the Aynd rules and vows, and Jassily won't make him. Zilar stripped Cass because she wanted them to, and she flipped the hell out after she realized where Drew was spending a lot of his time. (And of course, she gets pissed and flounces to the local JC. Jassily follows.)

Drew keeps in touch with Jassily, and Jassily splits the conjuring duties with Trick. Trick was kind of bitter until he had a chat with Zultanna. Jassily was kind of confused until she had a chat with Zultanna. Drew has a fantastic time shadowing Ana throughout the day, which brings Ana into some odd confrontations with Cera and some other necros. They have a better time trying to figure out how to communicate when she's not meta and basically sharing educations. And then Ana has a HELL of a time when her subconscious figures out some of the quirks of him being tangible but invisible most of the time. (This is an R-rated fic waiting to happen.)

Reqel calls Ana out but is helpful; remarks that her parents are going to shit a brick and they thought Adam was bad? Adam, being paranoid and slightly oversensitive, smells the brimstone residue and demands Answers.

"What's he even--what's so great about her?"
"Well, there's that whole putting up with you thing, without complaining. And keeping us reasonably hydrated. And figuring out how to get us out--twice."

Does Zultanna eventually feel generous and give Ana a little poke so she can see/hear Drew? Necromancy is innate, and she's technically compatible with all of it.
